Werlein shines at games she helped organize

GRAND RAPIDS — In late 2011, it looked as if the Transplant Games of America would not happen this year.

Through dedication and generosity of sponsorship, organizers made Grand Rapids the site and put together a successful competition.

Holly Werlein, a 2003 Gaylord High School graduate and emergency liver transplant survivor, was among those who made the Transplant Games a reality. The medal-winning athlete served on the planning committee.
