One of the key elements of our program is our renowned leader, Asghar Khaghani, MD. As the Richard DeVos Chair for heart and lung transplant surgery at Spectrum Health, Dr. Khaghani is one of the world's most respected thoracic transplant surgeons.
We are assembling expert clinicians and facilities to begin providing lung transplants in 2012.

Pediatric Kidney Transplant
At Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, our pediatric kidney transplantation program began in 2005 to provide Michigan families kidney transplantation services close to home.
Since that time, our kidney transplantation team has performed more than 34 transplants on patients from toddlers to 18 years. We work closely with you to support the process and your child's health, every step of the way. Our innovative research program means state-of-the art care for every patient.

Saint Mary's Health Care
The Kidney Transplant Program was established in 1973 and has regularly had the highest success rates in the state. Our specialists have performed over 1,780 kidney transplants using both live donor and procured kidneys. Our multidisciplinary team includes 15 full- and part-time staff members, two nephrologists, a physician assistant and four transplant surgeons.
Our Program earned the 2011 Patient Provider of the Year Award from the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan for the # of successful transplants performed, excellence and quality of care, programmatic updates and continuous improvements, updated and latest technology and most importantly, for making a difference saving lives.

Of the 141 medical schools in the study, MSU College of Human Medicine received an overall Social Mission rank of 6th and a rank of 7th for underrepresented minorities in its student population.
